This page defines the words a reader meets in casino terms and conditions, on game pages and on payment pages. Each entry explains what a term controls, not whether an offer is worth taking.
The rest of the site works the same way: a fact about an operator comes from that operator's published pages, and the card links to the site it was read on.
Where a page says nothing, the field stays empty rather than filled with a guess. There are no verdicts here and no player ratings; nobody on this site has played at the venues in /casinos/. The score those cards carry counts how much each venue puts in writing.
RTP, house edge and volatility describe a game's design. They are modelled over a very long run of rounds and say nothing about a single session.
Two of them are one statement from opposite sides: RTP is the share returned, house edge the share kept. Volatility describes the shape of the returns, not their size.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| RTP | Return to player: the share of total stakes a game is modelled to return over a very long run of rounds. It describes the game's maths, not a session. |
| House edge | The share of stakes the same model leaves with the game rather than returning. RTP and house edge cover the whole stake between them, so naming one names the other. |
| Volatility | How unevenly a game spreads its returns: low volatility means smaller and more frequent results, high volatility longer gaps between larger ones. |
A bonus is a set of conditions attached to money, and the conditions multiply into each other: the wagering figure, its base, the contribution of the games played, the time allowed.
An arithmetic example with invented figures: a bonus of 100 at wagering of 20x on the bonus needs 2,000 in stakes; the same 20x on deposit plus bonus, with a deposit of 100, needs 4,000. Halve the contribution of the game played and the turnover doubles again.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Wagering (playthrough) | The turnover that must be staked before bonus money, or what it produced, can be withdrawn. The base matters: wagering of 40x on the bonus is a different sum from 40x on deposit plus bonus. |
| Max bet with an active bonus | A ceiling on the stake per round while wagering is unfinished. Exceeding it is normally treated as a breach, with consequences the terms set out. |
| Max cashout from a bonus | A limit on how much of the winnings tied to a bonus may be withdrawn once wagering is met. Anything above it is removed rather than paid. |
| Game contribution (weighting) | The share of each stake that counts toward wagering, set per game or per category. A game contributing a fraction of every stake needs proportionally more turnover, and some contribute none. |
| Free spins | Spins on a named game at a stake fixed by the operator, not by the player. What they produce is usually credited as bonus funds with their own wagering and expiry. |
| Cashback | A return of part of the losses, or of the stakes, recorded over a defined period. The decisive detail is whether it arrives as withdrawable money or as another bonus with wagering. |
Bonus money is either part of the balance or a credit that only funds play. That difference decides whether the bonus amount can ever leave the account.
Labels vary between operators, and the same word can carry different rules in different documents. The clause governs, not the label, which is why /bonuses/ copies an offer as the operator words it.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Cashable bonus | A bonus whose own amount can be withdrawn once the conditions are met. It sits in the balance as money rather than as a temporary credit. |
| Non-cashable bonus | A bonus never paid out itself: it funds play, and only what it produces may be withdrawn, subject to wagering and any cashout cap. |
| Sticky bonus | A common name for a bonus that stays with the account instead of being paid out. Some terms make it sticky only until wagering ends, others for its whole life. |
Some words in a game's title describe how it pays rather than how much. They say what the screen will do, not what it returns.
Mechanic names are licensed and travel across many titles, so two games sharing one can differ in everything else. /games/ and /providers/ list titles by type and studio.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Progressive jackpot | A prize that grows from a share of the stakes placed on a game or a linked network of games, and resets when it is won. It is funded from the stakes that pay the rest of the game. |
| Ways to win | A count of the symbol positions that can combine into a win, used in place of fixed paylines. Where a mechanic lets the number of symbols per reel change from spin to spin, the count of ways changes with it; the figure describes the layout of the reels, not the size of the returns. |
| Cluster pays | A rule where wins come from groups of touching identical symbols rather than symbols on a payline. Some titles then remove the winning symbols and replace them, so one spin can pay more than once; the game's own rules say whether it does. |
The last group covers what happens around play: the checks an account passes, how a withdrawal behaves once requested, and the settings that constrain it.
The limit tools belong to the player rather than to an offer. Which ones exist, and how fast a change takes effect, differ between operators; each casino card lists the tools its own pages name, and /faq/ covers how they work.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| KYC | Know Your Customer: the identity, address and payment checks run before an account counts as verified. Which documents are requested, and when, follows the operator's policy and licence. |
| Reverse withdrawal | A feature that lets a requested withdrawal be pulled back into the playable balance before it is processed. Where a pending period applies, its length sits in the payment terms. |
| Deposit limit | A cap the player sets on deposits over a day, week or month. Whether a change takes effect at once or after a delay, and whether lowering and raising a limit are treated differently, is set out in the operator's terms. |
| Reality check | A recurring on-screen reminder of how long the current session has run, and in some setups what it has cost. The interval comes from the account settings, within the values the operator offers. |
| Cooling-off period | A short self-imposed break from play, measured in hours, days or weeks. The account reopens on its own when the period ends, which separates it from self-exclusion. |
| Self-exclusion | A request to shut access to an account for a long fixed term or indefinitely. It is normally not reversible before the term ends, which is the point of it. |
