What a studio name tells you

The studio decides the maths. It writes the game, publishes the return-to-player figure, and holds the certification its random number generator carries. That certification follows the game to every casino that runs it, which is why the studio name is worth more than the casino's own description of the same title.

It also tells you what a release will feel like before you open it. Volatility and mechanics are house habits: a studio known for cascading reels and heavy volatility keeps making games that behave that way, whatever the theme on the front.

What it does not tell you

It says nothing about the casino. Payout speed, verification, bonus terms and support belong to the operator, not to the studio whose games it licenses. A slow casino with an excellent catalogue is still a slow casino.

A return-to-player figure also belongs to a particular build of a game: the same title ships at several rates, and the casino chooses which build to run. The number that describes the game in front of you sits in that game's own information panel, opened from the lobby.
